ABOUT KUANSHAN TZU CHI HOSPITAL
Two decades ago, long-distance between Hualien and Taitung and lack of medical resources in rural areas of Taitung, made the inconvenience for people in rural areas such as Kuanshan residents, to access the medical services.
Master Cheng Yen with great compassion responded to the suffering of the poverty-stricken and vowed to pour great love into the ‘medical desert’ of eastern Taiwan. Master Cheng Yen decided to undertake Po-Ai Hospital, which wasn’t brought into use, and gathered medical staff and volunteers in Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital to begin medical services in Kuanshan. Kuanshan Tzu Chi Hospital was inaugurated on March 15, 2000.
Kuanshan Tzu Chi Hospital still upholds the principle of patient-oriented service, belief in respect for all living beings’ life, and the mission, to “guard life, health, and love”.

We are a group of medical staff with passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine. We’re glad to come to Taitung with the mind of ‘green medicine’, and hope to provide professional Traditional Chinese Medicine services and medical education here. We hope to manage the medical needs in Taitung, and develop the system of Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment with local characteristics. Besides, we’ll take care of local residents’ health as well as mental health with the concepts of holistic health care.
Classical acupuncture: One of four school of Taiwanese acupuncture, which based on Classics of traditional Chinese medicine, Huangdi’s Internal Classic as an example, and mostly focused on meridian system.
We also integrated physiology and pathology of western medicine with meridian system, and applied it into clinical use.
